I can't install Songr in Vista 64-bits. Is this common? It works on my Win 7 64-bits.

Hi,

Just downloaded Songr and that's almost perfect to me.
I just wonder if there is any way to remote Songr desktop application?
The idea is to use Songr search engine in a web application.
Search seems so fast that I was thinking about a webservice nested on Songr server.
Does such service available to members?

I´m not able to get search results.
I got only the error:
"Unable to get search results. Make sure you are connected to the Internet. If you are befind a proxy ...."
( I am using WIFI and I'm not behind a proxy )

List changes back to "recency"

When browsing results in "popularity" the list always goes back to "recency" when you click the next page.

if you click "popularity", then "go", it fixes it, but shouldn't it stay in "popularity" mode?

How to fill up a music library

We've all had those times where we've ran out of music to listen to, or just bought a new iPod and have no music to put onto it. Well, from personal experience, I've found quite a few ways to fill up songs, quickly and easily.

Music Discovery

What you should always start out with is some basic tunes - at least enough so that other programs will have a reference. Last.fm, YouTube, and Songr are all resources you should consider, especially if you already have a favorite genre or artist.

Last.fm will allow for you to enter a favorite artist and hear tunes by them. YouTube has many music videos, each with their respective view numbers and vote numbers (these digits can be used as a reference point). If you have completely no idea what you like, Songr's homepage will give you a list of songs others like; otherwise, just search up your favorite artist to find their tunes.

Previewing Music

Before buying music, it is important to first preview it so you know that you'll like it (trust me, there's nothing worse than spending over $70 on music only to find out that they only have cool looking album covers). Songr is a valuable resource when looking up songs, especially for ratings and music videos. YouTube is another resource, and if you live in the US, enter "vevo" after you search term and you'll get high quality music videos.

Obtaining Music

Once you are ready, there are two different types of music services you can use: subscription or one time.

Subscriptions services normally require you to pay a monthly fee and during the time your subscription is valid, you can download a set amount of songs. Some stores include Rhapsody and eMusic

One time purchases are where you purchase the song, and well, you keep it for life (or however long your computer lasts). Some nice stores are Amazon Mp3 and iTunes

Free Music

Free, $0, complimentary, no charge - whatever you call it, it's universal and generally well liked. Here are a few links to download legal free music:

Hello guys and gals,
I have been making a website lately, and I wanted it to be professional, well designed and functional at the same time (Like Songr ). But it's pretty difficult to do.
So after brainstorming, the first thing I decided to do is, to find an ideal combination of alignements. By that I mean, that I must find where it will be better to align the logo, the navigation menu, etc. I've thought of the TOP 4 alignements... But the problem is I cannot choose the best. So I am asking you please to choose the one you like the most and tell why, and if you have tips to align some element better post here. Basicly I want you to critize and argument. Yet again, I am reminding that the colors and the graphical elements are made ASAP, and look weird. But making them better is the next step of designing.

So, here are the alignement styles:

Style No 1:

This one is the most professional. White BG, no containers, Logo aligned with RSS and Twitter buttons and search, later the navigation, later a jquery slider and later the content divided in 3 columns.

Style No 2:

Centralized Container, logo and everything inside it, white BG. Content divides in 2 Columns and the login is either in a toggle panel on top or a sidebox.

Style No 3:

Everything the same, but the sidebox and the container drop shadow.

Style No 4:

The same but, the BG is an image, the logo, search and Twitter & RSS buttons are outside the container, and the container of the site starts with the navigation.

I have another idea, and it is to add to styles 2-4 a white-gray gradient on top and on bottom, like Apple Style. What do you say?

Please give me feedback, critize and argument on the alignements or even give me suggestions if you have any. Remember, don't judge the design, but how it is alligned. Thanks.

Playlist Implemented

We are excited to announce our new playlist feature, an addition which allows you to add constantly played songs to a list that you can refer back to at any time. That way, you won't have to always search up that amazing song you like.

To use it, you need to be a member, which is easy - just register here ( http://www.songr.com/member.php?action=register ) or login ( http://www.songr.com/member.php?action=login ). Once you are logged in, go to our homepage, and select the "Playlist" tab (should be aligned with "This Week", "This Month", "This Year").

To add songs, just click the "Add to Playlist" on any individual song page and to remove, click the "Remove from Playlist". Enjoy!

"Sort By" Implementation

One of our recently suggested feature was to allow users to sort music to their preferences on our "list" page, e.g. by artist, title, popularity, etc. We have done so, and hope you enjoy it!
